Reads: February, 2022

February was a wild month. I've been full-throttle trying to catch up writing The Doctor (Magic & Steam 3), after all those weeks lost to Covid, so while I got a bit of reading done, it wasn't as much as I usually do. But I've got a never-ending stack of research books to delve into during March, and I'm re-reading an old favorite and genre cornerstone series: The Adrien English Mysteries by Josh Lanyon, so this will be a fun month!

The Mole People: Life in the Tunnels Beneath New York City by Jennifer Toth

Domestic Animals (Hazard and Somerset: Arrows in the Hand 3) by Gregory Ashe

As always, my reviews are available at both Goodreads and BookBub, so please follow where it's most convenient!

Audio: The Mystery of the Spirits

The Mystery of the Spirits
(Snow & Winter: Book Five) is now available on audio at Amazon and Audible, with iTunes to follow shortly after.

Narrator: Wyatt Baker

Length: 5hrs, 42min

Blurb: Antique dealer Sebastian Snow and homicide detective Calvin Winter have been happily married for a year and a half. In that time, there’s been nary a mystery in sight, and for a recovering sleuth like Sebastian, an uneventful life is exactly what he needs.

That is, until Calvin’s lieutenant enters the Emporium and demands insight on a bizarre object known as a spiritoscope, hailing from the early days of the Spiritualism movement. Sebastian’s extensive knowledge of Victorian curiosities leads him to consulting for the NYPD - putting him at odds with his husband. And as the bodies begin to stack up, so do the seemingly dead-end clues, which if Sebastian can’t make sense of, might result in a whole lot more death.

Mystery, murder, and marriage…Sebastian’s back.

Reads: January, 2022

My plans for beginning 2022 with once again keeping up with my monthly reads and reviews sort of went to the wayside when my cat got sick (he's better!) and I caught Covid (I'm also better!) But that lingering fatigue is hard to combat and I have only just now had the energy and attention span necessary for reading again. So long story short—no new reads in January.

I do post my reviews at both Goodreads and BookBub, if you'd like to follow at either website, and I have several books I expect to finish in February, including some wonderful research titles and an advance copy of Gregory Ashe's Domestic Animals!

Sale: Lights. Camera. Murder.

Lights. Camera. Murder. (The Silver Screen: Case One) is on sale for $1.99 until Friday, January 14th, in honor of Kiss A Ginger Day! Meet redheaded private investigator Rory Byrne and his love interest, lead actor Marion Roosevelt, in this, my first foray into a PI mystery series!

Blurb: Private investigator Rory Byrne, has gained a reputation as someone the elite of New York City can trust to solve their problems quickly and quietly. So when a hotshot television producer hires him to recover a stolen script, Rory isn’t surprised that he’ll need to go undercover on the set of a historical drama. He has his hands full trying to investigate a skeptical and agitated crew while they work around the clock on The Bowery, a new show which promises to shake up the television industry.

To make a delicate situation even more complicated, the production is led by out-and-proud Marion Roosevelt and Rory is downright smitten with the handsome and talented actor. But every member of the crew and cast is a suspect in the theft. And as Rory investigates, Marion’s behavior grows increasingly suspicious. Then the murders start.

If Rory is to find the thief before The Bowery is cancelled, he’ll have to share his identity with the one man on set he can’t trust—Marion Roosevelt.

Previously featured in the Footsteps in the Dark anthology.

This sale is open to all retailers! Add to your Goodreads and BookBub shelves as well. Audio is available, narrated by Kale Williams, but is currently exclusive to the Footsteps in the Dark anthology audiobook.

2022: Quarter 1

Welcome to Quarter 1 of 2022!

I felt this would be a decent way of giving folks a general idea of what they can expect to see from me every three months. Please bear in mind that this schedule is in no way set in stone, short of a book being available online for pre-order. These are simply my best estimates for how long research, writing, and editing will take on new books, as well as turnaround times for audio recording and mastering.
